EIT Venture Award

Kokomodo (Israel) is developing a more sustainable approach to cacao production using plant cell culture in controlled bioreactors, aiming to reduce land and water use and decouple cacao production from deforestation and climate volatility. Through EIT Food’s Food Accelerator Network, RisingFoodStars and Supernovas programmes, Kokomodo received acceleration support, mentoring and access to a European network of corporates, research organisations and investors. EIT co-financing also supported technical development and early validation, helping the company progress towards pilot-scale readiness and market-oriented implementation.

Participation in EIT‑FAN (Food Accelerator Network) and EIT‑RFS (Rising Food Stars) provided structured acceleration support, expert mentoring, and access to EIT’s pan‑European network of corporates, research organisations, and investors. These programmes supported the refinement of Kokomodo’s value proposition, go‑to‑market strategy, and alignment with EU sustainability and food‑system priorities. In addition, EIT co‑financing tool funding contributed to advancing technical development and early validation activities, strengthening Kokomodo’s ability to progress from early R&D toward pilot‑scale readiness. Lastly, the EIT Supernovas program accelerated Kokomodo's growth by designed specifically to empower our female leadership. Overall, EIT support has played a catalytic role in reducing risk, increasing visibility, and accelerating Kokomodo’s transition toward scalable, market‑oriented implementation.
