OTIV (Belgium) develops OTIV.TWO, an AI-powered advanced driver assistance system for trams that uses cameras and LiDAR to detect hazards and support safer operations. Through the ARISE project, co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, the system was piloted and validated across tram networks in Belgium, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands. EIT Urban Mobility also supported consortium collaboration, connections with operators, researchers and cities, and wider dissemination of the project’s results.
EIT Urban Mobility's support extended beyond co-funding. The EIT framework provided the structure that enabled a truly complementary consortium to form, collaborate, and deliver as a team.
