EIT Changemaker Award
Dr Esther Murphy (Ireland) is the founder and CEO of DigiAcademy Technology Ltd and a Principal Investigator at Trinity College Dublin, specialising in digital and social inclusion. Through EIT Health support, she developed Digi-ID into a structured digital skills programme co-created with more than 1 000 people with intellectual disabilities and their support networks across five EU countries. The programme also introduced Citizen Advisory Panels, involving people with intellectual disabilities and autism directly in the design process as paid experts, and contributed to the spin-out of DigiAcademy as a Trinity College Dublin campus company in 2024.
Beyond funding, EIT Health facilitated a European consortium spanning France, Sweden, Spain, Croatia and Ireland, elevating Digi-ID from a national pilot to a EU innovation programme. This accelerated the commercialisation pathway, resulting in the spin-out of DigiAcademy as a TCD campus company in 2024.
