Call for evidence now open: contribute to the future EIT Regulation
EITThe European Commission is seeking input from stakeholders on the future EIT Regulation and the Strategic Innovation Agenda of the organisation.
The Commission has launched a call for evidence to support the revision of both the Regulation governing the EIT and the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda. This consultation aims to gather insights from various stakeholders, including public authorities, businesses, academia and research organisations, before the Commission prepares its final proposal. Interested organisations and stakeholders are strongly encouraged to participate by sharing their views through the Have Your Say portal by 23 September 2026.
Strengthening the EIT’s impact
The new Regulation is expected to be adopted in December 2026 and aims to enhance the EIT’s ability to support Europe’s competitiveness and address evolving priorities. It seeks to build on the EIT’s existing work by making the EIT more flexible, effective and closely aligned with EU strategic priorities. It would further strengthen cooperation between education, research and business, supporting the development and market uptake of innovative ideas, expanding entrepreneurial education and skills development, and improving coordination with other EU innovation programmes. The Regulation is set to ensure reduced complexity, enhanced governance and oversight and will also continue to support regional innovation capacity across Europe.
Areas for feedback
Through the call for evidence, the Commission is inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on the following key areas:
- how the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) can better strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and innovation ecosystems;
- how they can enhance Europe’s attractiveness to talent, innovators and entrepreneurs;
- how they can strengthen collaboration with other EU innovation instruments and programmes under the next multiannual financial framework (MFF); and
- what changes to the funding and implementation model could improve flexibility, governance, simplicity and impact.
The EIT encourages partners and stakeholders across Europe to share their views and looks forward to receiving their valuable input, experience and expertise as part of the assessment process.
