Europe’s Largest Innovation Network Meets Latvian Innovators in Riga – EIT National Day 2025

Today, the EIT Community Latvia hosted EIT National Day 2025 – a flagship event bringing together representatives from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) knowledge and innovation communities (KICs).
The event also gathered government, academia, and industry to celebrate Latvia’s achievements, strengthen collaboration, and set out future priorities for deeper integration with Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem.
The event, held at Riga Technical University’s Science and Innovation Centre, was attended virtually by EIT Director Martin Kern who gave a talk on Latvia’s role in the EIT and future strategic plans.
The EIT is committed to strengthening Latvia’s innovation ecosystem and unlocking its full potential. Whether through Europe’s largest innovation network or targeted programmes, the EIT Community is here to help Latvian talents, entrepreneurs and organisations grow.

Latvia’s Results to Date
Between 2021 and 2024, Latvia attracted €8.1 million in EIT funding that supported the growth of 215 startups and ventures – including success stories such as Aerones, CellboxLabs, and PrintyMed and brought 22 innovative products and services to market. In the same period over 3 300 people participated in the EIT’s education and training .programmes.
Latvia’s innovation ecosystem also benefits from 29 active KIC partner organisations across sectors such as health, urban mobility, digital innovation, food, and raw materials.
The EIT is currently the most engaged Horizon Europe mechanism in Latvia, offering relatively easy access to grants, early-venture support, and innovative product validation. Through the EIT Community Hub in Latvia, we can strategically build international links – connecting Latvian innovators with European industry, strengthening national deep tech support, de-risking R&D investments, and opening more pathways for startups, researchers, and industry to grow internationally.
