InnoEnergy-supported Skeleton Technologies reaches unicorn status following Siemens investment
Skeleton Technologies, an Estonian-founded energy-storage company supported by InnoEnergy, has reached unicorn status following the announcement of a strategic investment from Siemens on 14 October 2026.
The investment values the company at more than USD 1 billion, marking a major milestone in its growth.
Developing innovative energy-storage technologies
Founded in 2009, Skeleton Technologies develops high-power energy-storage solutions using its patented Curved Graphene technology. Its supercapacitors, devices that store and release electrical energy very quickly, help manage sudden changes in electricity demand, stabilise power supply and protect electrical equipment. The technology has applications across several sectors, including AI data centres, electricity grids and transport.
The investment from Siemens will support Skeleton's expansion of manufacturing operations in the United States and research and development activities in Silicon Valley. Under the partnership, Siemens will have exclusive global rights to sell and scale Skeleton's products in the data-centre market, integrating its supercapacitor technology into Siemens' electrical infrastructure portfolio.
The partnership comes as AI data centres face growing demands for reliable and efficient power infrastructure. Skeleton's technology is designed to respond rapidly to changes in electricity demand, helping data centres manage power fluctuations and make more effective use of existing infrastructure. The collaboration aims to support the wider deployment of these solutions.
InnoEnergy's support for Skeleton Technologies
InnoEnergy has supported Skeleton Technologies since 2015, providing financial support, business-development assistance and access to a network of industrial partners and potential customers. This included support through the UCGEN3 innovation project, which focused on developing the company's Curved Graphene technology.
Skeleton's latest milestone follows more than a decade of technological development and commercial expansion, during which InnoEnergy has been one of its early supporters.
