Peter ALBRECHT, Principal Advisor at the European Patent Office (EPO)

Peter Albrecht is a Principal Advisor in the Principal Directorate User Engagement and SMEs at the European Patent Office. Peter Albrecht joined the EPO in mid-2018 as Principal Director Operations in the sector Healthcare, Biotechnology and Chemistry and had over the years various roles in the organization including the head of the Vice President’s office in Operations (Patent Granting Process), the Principal Director for Digital Change & Business Transformation and also served as Business Change Manager of the Patent Granting Process across EPO’s Strategic Plan 2023.

In his current role Peter Albrecht is focusing on establishing a strong engagement to SMEs, universities and Public Research Organizations.

Peter began his career in the food industry before he was appointed in mid-1998 as CEO of a MedTech startup in Munich, Germany. Following the acquisition by a US MedTech company in 2003 he became Head of the Corporate Research & Technology group in Europe and led the global corporate front-end innovation process efforts. In 2015 Peter joined the Gothenburg-based Mölnlycke Healthcare as Global Vice President R&D.
