Empowering Europe’s Talent: EIT Releases New Education Guide
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has launched its Education Guide 2025, showcasing how the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) are shaping Europe’s innovation ecosystem through education.
By linking universities, research centres, and businesses, the EIT turns knowledge into impact, equipping learners of all ages with the skills and entrepreneurial mindset to succeed.
A Lifelong Learning Model for Innovation
The EIT’s education model unites education, research, and business to turn ideas into impact. It supports learners at every stage of life – from introducing young people to innovation and STEM, to helping students solve real-world challenges, and enabling professionals to upskill for a changing economy. Each programme blends academic excellence with hands-on experience, ensuring Europe’s research translates into real solutions and lifelong opportunities for learners.
What’s Inside?
The guide offers a deep dive into:
- EIT-labelled degree and non-degree programmes: Discover Master’s and PhD programmes that combine academic excellence with entrepreneurship, innovation, and real-world problem-solving, as well as other non-degree opportunities such as seasonal schools, short courses and fellowship schemes.
- Professional and lifelong learning opportunities: Flexible learning pathways tailored for professionals and businesses seeking to upskill and reskill in an ever-changing job market.
- EIT Campus and digital platforms: A closer look at the EIT’s digital learning ecosystem that enables borderless access to knowledge, collaboration, and innovation opportunities.
- Case studies and success stories: Inspiring journeys of students, educators, and innovators who have transformed their careers and communities through EIT education.
Europe-wide Impact
So far, over 1.3 million learners have benefited from EIT programmes and initiatives – from teenagers exploring science to professionals upskilling for their careers:
- Girls Go Circular has trained over 91 000 students, including 68 500 girls, in digital and green skills across 35 countries.
- Through the EIT Higher Education Initiative, 1 359 partners (including 643 universities) have collaborated to create 180 startups and train more than 134 000 participants.
- The EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative has already trained 1 million people through its Pledge in emerging technologies such as AI, semiconductors, and biotech – reaching its target ahead of schedule.
- More than 7 000 graduates have completed EIT-labelled Master’s and PhD programmes, with 221 going on to launch their own startups.
Driving Europe’s Transitions and Fostering Equality
EIT Skills Academies are also helping Europe get ready for the future. The European Battery Academy alone has reported over 100 000 learners, while the three new Academies – the European Solar Academy, the European RawMaterials Academy and the European Advanced Materials Academy – are set to train hundreds of thousands more in the coming years.
The EIT is also closing the gender gap in science and technology. Initiatives like Girls Go Circular, soon expanding as Girls Go STEM, and the SUPERNOVAS programme that supports women entrepreneurs and investors, ensure that Europe’s innovation ecosystem is open to all.
Looking Ahead
By 2028, the EIT aims to:
- equip 1 million learners with skills in key strategic sectors;
- train 200 000 students, academics and staff in entrepreneurship and innovation;
- inspire 100 000 girls to pursue STEM careers.
